Largo Area Greenways is a Subgroup of Largo Communities Together.
Greenways are defined as communication routes reserved exclusively for non-motorised transport which enhance both the environment and quality of life.
The Greenways subgroup remit and aim is to improve and develop the path network of the Largo area for walkers, cyclists and wheelers and to encourage active travel.
This aim stems from points raised in the extensive community consultation that took place over a period of time and led to the Dec 2023 publication of the Local Place Plan and Community Action Plan.
In addition to this, visitors and members of our community regularly express interest and concerns on social media and elsewhere regarding various aspects of our path networks: ownership, access, accessibility, vegetation growth, path surface, maintenance and signage for example.
There can’t be many people, visitors and residents alike, who don’t use and enjoy our existing path network for fresh air, physical and mental well-being and access between housing, transport, school, shops and services.
Greenways are defined as communication routes reserved exclusively for non-motorised transport which enhance both the environment and quality of life.
The first task that the group set itself was to carry out an audit of the paths in the Largo area to clarify information on path ownership and management, on path access and accessibility, on path surfaces and surrounding vegetation and on path issues and possible improvements.
Please have a look at the Greenways Path Audit - completed in 2026.
Here is an interactive map of the current Fife Core Paths.
We'd like to hear your views on these paths. If you have feedback on access, surfaces, maintenance, or ideas for improvements, please use the form below or contact Ross McIntyre.
Beyond this, the next aim of the Greenways group is to investigate the practical ways on the ground to improve path network accessibility, surfaces, signage and vegetation control.
If you are interested in getting involved or just want to know what is going on then keep an eye on our facebook page.
