I hope this message finds you well. I’m writing to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who joined us for the Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on Monday evening. Your presence greatly enriched this pivotal gathering for our community.

Reflecting on the evening, it was so inspiring to see such a strong turnout.

The AGM kicked off promptly, with the first half dedicated to general business, and we were pleased to see so many of you.

This AGM was a significant step in transitioning our broad visions into specific, actionable projects. We mentioned the Local Place Plan, which, thanks to valuable ongoing community input, only needs minor tweaking before submission. The focus on concrete localized actions and initiatives was evident, underscoring our commitment to realizing the community’s aspirations.

The participation and engagement during the AGM were heartening. It was not just about having a say but about being an active part of our community’s exciting journey. Many of you shared your thoughts, and some even signed up to help bring these ideas to life.

We revisited a variety of proposed initiatives, each aiming to enhance different aspects of community life. From the Water Improvement Project, emphasizing our commitment to the environment, to plans for advocating to repurposing the former hotel site for community use or parking, your interest in these proposals was evident.

The integration with broader initiatives like the Levenmouth Cycling Strategy, the Skillshare Programme’s focus on community-led learning, and sustainable living projects like the Tree Warden Scheme highlight your collective vision for a vibrant and sustainable future.

Your interest in projects ranging from dementia awareness and expanding volunteer networks to cultural events and youth engagement projects is a testament to our community’s diverse aspirations and commitment to inclusivity, safety, and heritage preservation.

As we move forward, each of these proposals, irrespective of scale, will play a crucial role in shaping our community. Your involvement and enthusiasm at the AGM have set a solid foundation for these endeavours. We will be publishing our community actions in full very soon, and are super grateful for your help to sort, prioritise and deliver.

Once again, thank you for being a part of this meaningful event. If you were not able to make it there will be plenty of opportunity for involvement as we go along and our mailbox is always open 🙂

Your participation is not just valued; it is essential in guiding our collective future. We look forward to continuing this journey with you and seeing these exciting plans come to fruition.

Roadworks reminder

Also a reminder: we would like to inform you about upcoming ground investigation works at Harbour Wynd. Starting on Monday, 4th December 2023, and lasting approximately a week, these works are essential for the design and replacement of a nearby retaining wall.

The contractor, Ian Farmer Associates, will oversee the drilling works. While percussion boring will be employed, resulting in some noise, efforts will be made to minimize disturbances. These works will only occur during daylight hours to reduce noise impact.

Please note, for safety, Harbour Wynd will be closed during this period, and a diversion will be in place. We understand this might cause some inconvenience, and Fife Council appreciate your patience and cooperation. A letter drop will be conducted in the area to inform residents of these works. Christmas Cheer

Last but not least: As the festive season approaches, The Aurrie extends a warm and joyous invitation for a special Christmas Day celebration. Following the unforgettable experience of last year’s festivities, which ranked among the most cherished at The Aurrie, they are excited to announce the return of this heartwarming event.

Please note: This is entirely free and about building connections and community.

The Aurrie is opening its doors to all who wish to spend a few festive hours enjoying fun activities, delectable food, delightful drinks, singing, games, and, above all, wonderful company. This event is crafted as a community gathering where individuals from diverse backgrounds and walks of life can come together to share in the joy of togetherness this Christmas. The Aurrie is especially keen to welcome those who might find their day a bit lackluster, for any reason, encouraging them to join and be part of the festive cheer.

With the invaluable support of LACRT, dedicated volunteers, and the incredible local community, The Aurrie will be open on Christmas Day from 11 AM to 2 PM.

As a gentle reminder, our Annual General Meeting (AGM) is fast approaching. It’s scheduled for next Monday, a week from today, and will commence at 7:00 PM at the Aurrie.

These events are a fantastic way to engage with our community, the core of Warm Welcome Days is about fostering community spirit, building stronger bonds among community members, and creating an environment of support and mutual respect.

We accept donations for all refreshments which will make these sessions last longer and stay sustainable, so your support matters !

• Tuesdays: Simpson Institute, 11am-1pm☕
• Wednesdays: Largo Library, Lundin Links featuring Bingo from 11:30am or come along and borrow a book first when the Library opens at 10am 🥐
• Last Sunday: ‘Souper’ Sunday at Durham Hall everyone welcome at the church service or you can join afterwards. 🥄

A huge thanks to everyone who makes these events what they are !

We would also like to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended the fascinating Antarctica Talk by Janice Duncan on Saturday night that raised money for Friends of Largo Bay (and to Janice of course for sharing her wonderful adventures) .

Your presence and engagement made the event a memorable one and it sold out so quickly we didn’t need to advertise it !
